Business
Founded in 1995 in Hamburg, Germany, it vision supports and consults on business and company processes in the planning, design and operation of telecommunications and power networks. The company has also contributed its know-how to multimedia and automotive projects. it vision’s goals are innovative software solutions, professional project management and customer-oriented service. it vision is a member of The Quality Group, a team of five companies with more than 140 employees and offices in Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Madrid and Barcelona.
Goal
Telecommunications companies operate highly complex networks that span not only regions, but a wide range of electronic equipment as well. Mobile phones, high-speed Internet devices and other technologies contribute to this complexity, along with services for subscribing, billing, and personalizing accounts. it vision specializes in software solutions for telecom business activities and network management. One of the crucial areas they address is transmission planning. Done well, it can greatly improve the efficiency and reliability of resources, and expand communications networks. it vision needed an application that would help them effectively expand their network mapping functionality.
Application
it vision has extended its network mapping functionality with Site Connector, a graphical user interface (GUI) created by it vision for its NETx suite of telecom solutions. Based on ILOG JViews Diagrammer, ILOG JViews Telecom Graphic Objects (TGO) and ILOG JViews Maps, Site Connector gives a geographical view of a network, and allows users to work more effectively in operations aimed at improving services. it vision’s Site Connector gives telecommunications companies 20-20 vision for improving their networks.

Results
Before the introduction of Site Connector, the NETx suite worked well for experienced users. However, it
did not support an intuitive way of planning that involved selecting resources for possible network routing
paths in combination with a good overview of the network and full access to associated detailed
information. Site Connector provides this missing functionality, and makes work easier for both new and
experienced users, and improves the overall security of planning operations. NETx customers get more
intuitive access to network data and planning issues, and the presentation of data in a graphical
environment speeds up training and helps new users become oriented with networks and equipment
quickly. Users save time and obtain more feasible planning results, avoiding errors and increasing the
quality of their work.
Technical
it vision developed Site Connector in 12 man-months. Developed with Eclipse and
the Java™ Development Kit, it runs with Windows NT, 2000 and XP operating
systems.
