ILOG JViews Maps for Defense 8.1

Released in November, 2007, ILOG JViews Maps for Defense 8.1 offers improved support for existing military map formats and better terrain analysis features. It includes all the latest features of ILOG JViews Maps. ILOG JViews Maps for Defense 8.1 requires Java Platform, Standard Edition, version 5.0 or later.

Enhanced map formats
ILOG JViews Maps for Defense 8.1 provides enhanced S52 Symbology, to present nautical map data according to its true property characteristics, rather than with simplified icons.

Terrain analysis
High-resolution raster imagery can now be visualized in the 3D views, even if the underlying elevation data grid has a lower resolution.

Previous Release

ILOG JViews Maps for Defense 8.0
ILOG JViews 8.0 was released in December, 2006. This version offers support for new military map formats, and includes all of the latest features of the base product, ILOG JViews Maps.

New Support for air and sea formats
Until now, ILOG JViews Maps for Defense focused on mapping services for land-based military operations. In addition to the general mapping formats provided by ILOG JViews Maps, JViews Maps for Defense 7.5 supported Arc Standard Raster Product (ASRP), UTM/USP Standard Raster Product (USRP), Compressed ARC Digitized Raster Graphic (CADRG), and vector map (VMAP)—all of primary interest to land-based military forces.

JViews Maps for Defense 8.0 adds support for the vector hydrographic map format, S57 (as defined by the International Hydrographic Organization ), used for naval operations. JViews Maps for Defense 8.0 is distributed with a set of S57 data for the coastline of the United States.

The new release also supports the Digital Aeronautical Flight Information File (DAFIF) format (as defined by the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency), which contains information about airports, airways, airspaces and airspace navigation data. A sample data set is included.
