Manufacturing leaders worldwide rely on ILOG to power mission-critical applications.

DaimlerChrysler AG   DaimlerChrysler AG

DaimlerChrysler AG develops, manufactures, distributes and sells a wide range of automotive and transportation products, primarily passenger cars and commercial vehicles. ILOG optimization engines power DaimlerChrysler's vehicle production scheduling system, allowing it to improve production efficiency at 18 Chrysler factories throughout Europe, Mexico and North America.

"ILOG has allowed us to gain a 10-20% improvement in purge rates, which results in $500,000 in annual savings at a typical plant. We see ILOG as the tool to accomplish option leveling throughout the entire schedule, which should result in inventory reductions on the order of $10-20 million, and manpower efficiencies due to increased schedule stability. Our vehicle quality improves, as well as efficiency and profitability per unit."

James Whitfield
Manager of Centralized Vehicle Scheduling and Forecasting
DaimlerChrysler

Dillinger Htte GTS   Dillinger Htte GTS

Dillinger Htte GTS implements steel production plans using business rules written and deployed with ILOG JRules. Employed in 16 production lines at Dillinger Httes rolling mill plant, ILOG JRules powers a new application called Buchungsserver. Planners can adjust and fine-tune processes and production steps in real time, achieving better quality and faster response to changes in supplies, orders and plant schedules.

With ILOG JRules, we enable our business users to adjust rules to the current production situation themselves. Therefore, flexible reactions to changes can be made all the way down to the instructions for the crane drivers.

Nippon Steel Corporation   Nippon Steel

Nippon Steel Corporation is the world's largest integrated steelmaker. ILOG Solver and ILOG CPLEX helped its NS Solutions subsidiary automate and optimize coil production for a leading automaker. This supply-chain management (SCM) application creates production plans based on order specifications and available steel stocks. Optimizing SCM for its rolling mill reduces Nippon Steel's scrap metal, inventories and other related costs.

"Our ability to deliver high-performance, cutting-edge applications that give our customers a significant competitive advantage is the key to our success. These requirements mean that we must seek out the best technology partners. We have enjoyed a long association with ILOG for the high quality of its products and because of the company's acknowledged leadership in supply chain and manufacturing optimization solutions."

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.   Nissan Motor

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.'s Sunderland plant in the United Kingdom is renowned as the most efficient auto production plant in Europe. Employing ILOG optimization engines in a production scheduling system allowed Nissan to increase plant production 30% without adding a costly new assembly line. In addition, ILOG visualization components give the system rich, graphical interfaces that enhance ease of use.

"Today, up to 70% of all Nissans sold in Europe originate at Sunderland. The new scheduling tool from PA Consulting and ILOG not only gives us better scheduling capabilities but has also reduced the order cycle time and given greater flexibility to our customers. This leading-edge tool reinforces Nissan's position at the forefront of technology applications in car production."

POSCO    Posco

POSCO (Pohang Iron & Steel, Ltd.) is the world's number-two producer of crude steel. The company is able to maximize production while meeting customer demand via an advanced planning and scheduling system powered by ILOG optimization engines. The system also uses ILOG visualization components for a responsive, real-time interface.

"We increased the hot-coil rolling ratio by 10%, reduced stock by 30%, and also reduced delay time by five days. That is about $5 million in savings this year. Also, overall we achieved complete office automation -- we now have a paperless office environment throughout our entire organization."

Samho Heavy Industries

Samho Heavy Industries, one of the largest shipbuilders in Asia, manages its resources with a scheduling system based on ILOG Solver and ILOG Scheduler. The powerful C++ constraint-based optimizers weigh all the parameters involved in building a ship and generate solutions that keep Samho's operations on time.

"With thousands of people and operations to schedule, we couldn't afford to skimp on a scheduling system. ILOG leads in optimization, and we are seeing improvements around here daily that are directly attributable to better resource allocation."
