| OSS through Java™ Initiative |
|
The OSS through Java™ Initiative is a working group of industry leaders who have joined resources to speed the development of innovative OSS/BSS solutions and enable fast deployment and integration of OSS components.
Communications and content service providers look forward to building a new generation of OSS/BSS systems, developed and implemented faster. They'll rely on assembling and customizing software components that will easily interoperate with one another.
ILOG in the OSS through Java™ Initiative
ILOG supports the OSS through Java™ Initiative (OSS/J) to build next-generation operation systems and software (NGOSS). As a contribution to the initiative, ILOG has developed an OSS/J XML toolkit that you can download here.
ILOG products and OSS/J
For the past decade, ILOG has constantly provided the industry with innovative ways to display huge real-time networks, and has standardized with Nortel and the TMForum human machine interfaces (TMF046). As both a standards leader and a market leader, ILOG has always invested in open products, providing simple ways to integrate new data into monitoring applications.
Answers to the OSS Quality of Service API questionnaire can be found here.
Plug and Play IP Services Management catalyst project
As an active TMF member, ILOG is demonstrating an implementation of OSS/J through the Plug and Play IP Services Management catalyst project, part of the Plug and Play IP Services Management NGOSS through the OSS/J TMF catalyst project. Other participants include BEA Systems, BT, Convergys, Motorola, Nortel Networks, Oracle, PwC Consulting, Lumos and Sun Microsystems.

Plug & Play IP Services Management architecture |

ILOG JRules correlates alarms and performance indicators with SLA and customer information. Depending on correlation rules, the ILOG module can generate OSS/J-compliant trouble tickets, processed by EAI workflow, to automate reconfiguration of IP network elements.
Thanks to ILOG JRules XML binding and J2EE compliance, the SLA/QoS module has been quickly developed and integrated through the OSS/J API.
QoS monitoring user interface demo
ILOG JTGO monitors OSS/J-compliant Quality of Service (QoS) data. A user interface built with ILOG JTGO can be connected through a plug-and-play bridge to any OSS/J QoS-compliant module.
- Complete suite of telecom components
OSS/J QoS data can be monitored and browsed through a set of graphic components including a tree view representing the hierarchical structure of the networks and services; a table view representing alarms and elements lists; and a network view representing the network topology along with geographic information.
- Transparent integration with OSS/J
A plug-and-play bridge connects the OSS/J QoS API (JSR 90) to the graphic model of ILOG JTGO components. This bridge can be easily customized to connect the graphic layer to any OSS/J QoS-compliant module.
- De facto standard, TMF 046 compliant
Preferred by telecom equipment vendors, ISVs and integrators, ILOG JTGO is the most widely deployed graphical component for building OSS user interfaces.
