Nokia Networks Selects ILOG Java GUIs for its Network Management Systems Product Line
ESPOO,FINLAND and MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - May 23, 2000 - Nokia Networks, the infrastructure arm of Finland-based Nokia (NASDAQ: NOK) and ILOG (NASDAQ, EURO.NM: ILOG) today announced the selection of ILOG Java-based graphical user interfaces (GUIs), ILOG JTGO and ILOG JViews Component Suite, for Nokia's Network Management System (NMS) product portfolio. With support for open standards such as Java and CORBA, ILOG's software components will enable Nokia Networks' customers to perform their own adaptations based on the Nokia Networks Monitoring Platform. Additionally, third party systems can be easily integrated to the Nokia Networks Monitoring Platform.
"Nokia is committed to provide best-in-class solutions for web-based network management solutions. We selected ILOG components for their powerful mapping and geo spatial data handling," said Jari Eskola, product line manager, Monitor Products, Operational Support Systems, Nokia Networks. "Nokia is committed to the provision of Network Management Systems and Operational Support Systems, based on open systems and standards, for the benefit of our customers."
ILOG JTGO makes possible fast development of intuitive, graphically rich network management applications that run on standard web browsers. ILOG JViews provides finely tuned display algorithms to deliver outstanding graphics performance and scalability. Other features provided by ILOG JViews include Java graph layout algorithms and sophisticated mapping capabilities.
"ILOG's Java GUIs meets the requirements of Nokia's NMS portfolio by enabling web-based, visually-rich and customizable interfaces for network operators worldwide," said Manuel Montalban vice president and general manager, ILOG Telecom Business Division. "Nokia's selection of our products underscores ILOG's technological leadership and experience in the telecommunications industry as the leading provider of network management interfaces."
ILOG network management GUIs were developed using extensive usability research that considers ergonomics and how operators will use the software - factors seen as crucial in the design of Operational Support System (OSS) user interfaces. Network operators using ILOG GUIs typically need less training and report fewer incidences of fatigue compared with less-sophisticated UIs. As a result, ILOG's visualization products - ILOG J/TGO, ILOG J/Views and now ILOG TGF - are becoming the de facto standard for network and service management applications.
